CSK vs RCB Match Result - IPL 2019 Match 1

Harbhajan Singh (Man of the Match): You can't ask for a better start. Since they had a lot of left handers in the team, Fleming told me that I'll be playing and bowling within the powerplay. This wicket was quite helpful for the spinners. It is always nice to get the wickets of AB and Kohli. We can't take things for granted in this format but I am glad that I won the Man of the Match in the first game and hopefully, can contribute more going forward.

MS Dhoni: We were not really sure about the wicket. The wicket was really slow and it reminded me of the one used for Champions League in 2011. The pitch needs to be better as scores of 80,90,100 are really low and you can create trouble if there are spinners in your lineup. Harbhajan has the kind of experience that is needed on such wickets. Very good bowling effort from him, especially in the early stages of the match. The start provided by him was capitalised well by other bowlers. Other teams have good spinners too and this is not the kind of pitch that we are looking forward to.

Virat Kohli: I'm happy with the attitude that the guys showed on the field. I know the batting effort wasn't ideal but the attitude on the field needs to be maintained so that we can be ready to strike when our time comes. The wicket looked much better than it played. So we thought somewhere between 140-150 would have been an ideal score, because of the dew factor later on. A scrappy start to the league but that's what you get when you have a wicket like that. We should have done better with the bat and tried to stretch upto 110-120 to stay in the game. I thought CSK played really well and deserved to win.

At the end, the season opener turns out to be a pretty one-sided affair, much to the disappointment of those who were anticipating a high-octane clash between these heavy weights. But the CSK fans aren't complaining, are they? A flying start to their campaign as the men in yellow begin their course to defend the title. And there it is. The long-awaited winning strike from the bat of Ravindra Jadeja. Nudges it away nicely to finish the honours as CSK register a comprehensive victory to get their season rolling.
